ESL Instructor

DepartmentEnglish Language Program-OPSCompensation$30.00 HourlyRequired Qualifications•Bachelor's degree in English, TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, English Education, or a related field.•Experience teaching English to multilingual learners from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds.•Knowledge and experience teaching academic English.•Ability to manage a classroom effectively and create an engaging learning environment.ESL Instructors :Prepare and deliver engaging English language lessons using established curriculum materials along with instructor-developed supplemental materials.Teach assigned courses in reading/writing, listening/speaking/vocabulary, and grammar across the program's six proficiency levels.Assess student learning and provide appropriate feedback/academic support to students.Maintain effective classroom management and create a positive, engaging learning environment.Attend faculty meetings and collaborate with instructors within the program.Proctor final examinations.Hold one paid office hour per week.Reading/Writing instructors hold one additional paid tutoring hour per week.Preparation, grading, and other instructional responsibilities are included within the scheduled teaching hours.Preferred Qualifications:Master's degree in TESOL, Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, or a related field.Experience teaching ESL/EFL in higher education or university-preparation programs.Experience teaching English abroad.Statement(s) of UnderstandingThis position requires a background check.
