Speech Pathologist (Bilingual- Spanish

Position: Bilingual Speech Language Pathologists Work year: 180 Days Reports to: Building Principal & Director of Special Education Position Overview: The Speech Language Pathologist will assist in developing speech and language skills to facilitate the personal, social, and intellectual development of students. The Speech Language Pathologist must work closely with the staff and administration of the school district. Duties: Conduct speech/language assessments, identify needs, prepare individualized plans as required (IEPs, MTSS plans) Serve as a resource to school staff members in the domain of communication-speech and language Consult with classroom teachers and parents regarding comprehensive speech/language needs of the students being served Deliver services via IEP or MTSS framework Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations. Administers and analyzes standardized testing data and adjusts instructional strategies, as needed, to maximize probability of student success. Recognizes the special needs of students, seeks the assistance of district specialists, as needed and/or required, and makes appropriate individualized physical and instructional accommodations within the classroom. May serve on building-level and district-wide committees, e.g., curriculum resource adoption and curriculum writing. Builds effective relationships with parents and students through regular communication and is available to students and parents for education-related purposes, e.g., open house, conferences, extra-curricular activities. Assists in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct and develops and informs students of reasonable rules concerning classroom procedures and behavior and maintains a safe and orderly classroom environment. All other duties that may be assigned by the district administration. Qualifications Valid K-9 State of Illinois Professional Educator’s License (PEL) with required Type 73 Speech-Language Pathologist Fluent in Spanish (oral and written) Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and textbooks. Ability to write reports and general correspondence. Ability, both orally and in writing, to present information effectively and respond appropriately to questions and concerns from individuals and groups of educators, administrators, parents, students, and the public. Demonstrated ability to integrate multiple facets of technology to enhance learning and instruction.
