AVECC in Buckeye is seeking a board-certified or residency trained Veterinary Criticalist to join our Emergency and Specialty hospital and help expand Critical Care services within a dynamic, supportive environment.

In your day to day, you will:

• Manage high acuity emergency and ICU patients, including triage, stabilization, and ongoing critical care management. • Lead or participate in interdisciplinary rounds and contribute to the development of clinical protocols. • Perform advanced therapies (e.g., mechanical ventilation, high-flow oxygen) based on available equipment.• Utilize advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities to manage complex critical care cases.• Collaborate closely with the Emergency team to ensure seamless transitions between emergency stabilization and ongoing ICU care.• Support Critical Care program growth such as blood bank services.• Participate in continuing education and mentorship opportunities, including POCUS and echocardiography training.• Help foster strong relationships between Critical Care, Emergency, and specialty services.• Work closely with veterinarians, technicians, and support teams to provide seamless, compassionate patient care.• Communicate clearly and empathetically with pet owners during stressful and emotional situations.• Contribute to a positive, team focused hospital culture built on collaboration, mentorship, and continuous learning.

What You Bring

• DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for state veterinary licensure. • Board Certification by the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care or residency training in Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care. • Strong clinical skills and an interest in managing complex, critically ill patients. • Strong communication skills with a compassionate, client centered approach. • A collaborative mindset and commitment to exceptional patient care. • A passion for continuous learning, teamwork, mentorship, and advancing specialty medicine. • An interest in contributing to the continued growth and development of Critical Care services.
