Responsibilities The Referral Management Coordinator supports timely patient access by coordinating and managing referral requirements throughout the referral lifecycle. Monitors assigned referral work queues, identifies outstanding requirements, and follows referrals through resolution to help prevent delays in scheduling and patient care. Coordinates with physician offices, clinics, payer representatives, internal departments, and patients as appropriate to obtain required documentation, including primary care provider (PCP), Veterans Affairs (VA), Indian Health Service (IHS), and other payer-directed referrals. Maintains accurate and timely documentation of referral activity, proactively identifies and escalates barriers, and ensures appropriate follow-up in accordance with established workflows and payer requirements. Develops productive working relationships across departments and with external partners to support efficient referral management and a consistent patient experience. Demonstrates strong organization, attention to detail, accountability, adaptability, and the ability to independently manage assigned workloads while remaining responsive to departmental and operational needs. Qualifications Education: High school diploma; prefer some college Experience: One (1) year of experience in patient access, authorizations, referrals, medical office operations, revenue cycle, or a related healthcare setting preferred. Working Knowledge: General knowledge of insurance plans, payer referral requirements, medical terminology, healthcare documentation, and referral workflows preferred. Familiarity with PCP, VA, and IHS referral processes is strongly preferred. Every team member at OHH plays an integral role in our patients' experience.
