Course Description Surveys California Indian resistance and resurgence. Provides a place‑based approach to anti‑racism and anti‑colonial movements through community‑centered learning and is a foundational overview of contemporary political, social, environmental issues, and representations through California Indian perspectives and knowledge. Subjects can include but are not limited to: tribal citizenship, self‑determination, decolonization, sovereignty, and settler colonialism. Qualifications A master’s degree in the area of instruction or a closely related field A clear commitment to American Indian epistemology, in terms of theory, methodology , pedagogy as they pertain to the field of American Indian Studies. Demonstrated knowledge of sovereignty, culture, and tribal histories and federal Indian policy and law. Demonstrated experience in working in collaboration with California American Indian tribes, communities, organizations and/or other American Indian nations in the US. Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU‑related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment. Preferred qualifications Experience teaching American Indian students at the University level. Salary commensurate with degree level and experience Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $8,000 per full‑time month The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges (eff 7/1/24): CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer A – AY: $5,507 - $6,677 per full‑time month CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer B – AY: $6,221 - $13,224 per full‑time month The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
