A Mammography Technologist is a specialized medical imaging professional who performs breast imaging procedures to screen for and diagnose breast conditions, including breast cancer. They operate mammography equipment to capture high-quality images, ensuring proper patient positioning and compression for accurate results. Mammography Techs follow strict radiation safety and quality standards, provide patient education and support during exams, and maintain detailed records for radiologist interpretation. Typically trained in radiologic technology with additional certification in mammography (such as through the ARRT), they play a critical role in early detection and preventative care.
