Lead Database Reliability Engineer

Salary: $142,000 - 198,667 per year Requirements:

• We need a bachelors or masters degree in Engineering, Science, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience, along with 8+ years of hands-on database administration, management, and performance tuning experience.
• We need deep expertise in MySQL, covering design, implementation, configuration, security, troubleshooting, maintenance, backup and recovery, replication, and performance optimization.
• We need strong cloud and automation capability, including scripting in Bash, Python, or Ruby, plus experience managing large-scale AWS environments and using cloud-native database services such as RDS and Aurora; Azure or Google Cloud Platform experience is a plus.
• We need experience building database observability solutions, including monitoring, dashboards, and alerting with tools such as PMM, New Relic, VividCortex, or similar platforms.
• We need expertise in high-availability and disaster recovery strategies, including failover clustering, Orchestrator, and approaches that ensure resilience and business continuity.
• Preferred experience includes PostgreSQL or MongoDB, configuration management tools such as Chef or Puppet, Terraform, GitHub-based workflows, and relevant database administration or automation certifications.

• We lead database architecture and design efforts, delivering scalable, high-performance, and reliable solutions that align with business priorities and long-term strategy.
• We use AI and machine learning to improve database operations through performance tuning, capacity forecasting, anomaly detection, predictive maintenance, and automation.
• We develop, maintain, and improve monitoring, alerting, backup, and disaster recovery capabilities to protect system health, data integrity, and high availability.
• We troubleshoot and resolve complex database issues, providing technical leadership, operational support, and participation in on-call rotations.
• We ensure compliance by performing regular database audits, assessments, and governance reviews in line with regulatory and internal policy requirements.
• We collaborate across teams, mentor junior database engineers, stay current on new database technologies and best practices, and support global teams across multiple time zones.
