EHS Technician

The Fountain Group is a national staffing firm and we are currently seeking a EHS Technician for a prominent client of ours. This position is in Pomona, CA 91767. Details for the position are as follows:

Location: Pomona, CA
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM-4:00 PM
Duration: 12-month contract with potential for extension and/or conversion
Pay Rate: $23-$25/hour
Work Environment: Onsite

Position Overview

We are seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Technician to support environmental, safety, hazardous waste, and industrial hygiene activities within a manufacturing environment.

This is a hands-on technician-level position ideal for someone with experience in environmental services, hazardous waste/hazardous materials, HAZMAT, EHS, or workplace safety . The EHS Technician will perform facility inspections, support hazardous waste activities, maintain environmental and safety documentation, assist with incident response, and help ensure compliance with applicable OSHA, DOT, EPA, and environmental regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct routine EHS inspections, safety walks, facility audits, and environmental monitoring
• Support the facility's hazardous waste and hazardous materials programs , including waste collection, storage, pickups, disposal, and shipment preparation
• Assist with accident and incident investigations and corrective actions
• Respond to environmental, safety, and hazardous material concerns or spills
• Maintain accurate EHS records, databases, inspection documentation, and environmental reports
• Assist with environmental permit and regulatory compliance activities
• Support employee EHS training, including environmental and safety-related topics
• Assist with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and other workplace safety programs
• Review work areas, equipment, and processes for potential environmental or safety concerns
• Monitor contractor compliance with applicable EHS requirements
• Support plant safety initiatives, recycling programs, and environmental projects
• Communicate identified hazards and recommended corrective actions to supervisors and management
• Work collaboratively with employees, contractors, supervisors, and other EHS team members

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• 2+ years of experience in EHS, environmental services, hazardous waste, HAZMAT, industrial safety, or a related field
• Hands-on experience with hazardous waste and/or hazardous materials handling
• Experience conducting safety inspections, environmental inspections, audits, or facility safety walks
• Working knowledge of applicable regulations such as OSHA, DOT, EPA, DTSC, or similar environmental/safety standards
• Comfortable maintaining documentation, collecting data, and completing regulatory or compliance records
• Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a plant/manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications

• HAZWOPER certification
• DOT Shipper or hazardous materials transportation training
• Hazardous Waste / RCRA or Non-RCRA training
• Experience with hazardous spill response
• SDS interpretation experience
• CPR/First Aid certification
• Experience in manufacturing, industrial, environmental services, or other regulated environments
• Experience providing employee safety or environmental training
• Fire Department, emergency response, or rescue squad background
