Registered Nurse (RN) - Labor and Delivery

We are seeking experienced Registered Nurses (RNs) specializing in Labor and Delivery. This position involves working in a high-risk, high-volume environment, providing care during labor and delivery, and ensuring the health and safety of both mothers and newborns.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care in a high-risk Labor and Delivery unit with a focus on maternal and newborn health.
• Function in the role of Baby Nurse during delivery and provide ongoing care for newborns until their transfer to postpartum.
• Circulate during procedures and deliver essential newborn care, including administering Vitamin K injections and performing assessments.
• Support midwifery clients and private OBs, while also collaborating with adult recovery services and community care clinics.
• Adhere to AWHONN guidelines for staffing and patient care.
• Participate in patient education and support for families.

Experience & Qualifications

• Minimum of 3-5 years of nursing experience required, with at least 2 years in high acuity and high pace environments.
• Preferred candidates will have 5 or more years of high-risk experience.

• All candidates must provide current supervisory references and proof of required certifications with their application.
• Current BLS and NRP certifications are mandatory. ACLS and AWHONN Advanced or Intermediate certifications are preferred.
• Must pass clinical review and provide proof of current Nursys.

Work Schedule & Requirements

The nursing schedule will entail night shifts with 4x12-hour rotations (19:00 - 07:30). Candidates should be prepared to work every other weekend and holidays as needed. Pre-approved time off will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Unit Details

• Average daily census of 15 patients, with approximately 500-600 deliveries per month.
• Unit features 4 operating rooms and a total of 31 beds.
• Float requirements may include assignments in postpartum and antepartum, as well as to sister facilities that provide Maternal and Baby care.

Special Procedures & Equipment

Experience with EPIC HARDSTOP electronic fetal monitoring is crucial. The candidate must be adept at working in fast-paced, high-acuity environments and handling special procedures as outlined within the unit.
