Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Overview We are a busy, small animal clinic in Farmington, New Mexico with 3 veterinarians on staff and the capacity for 2 or 3 more. We see dogs, cats, exotics, reptiles, and birds. Our team is compassionate, personable, dedicated, and works well together. Externship Program Students will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and managing patients medically. Externs also practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients. Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships are available to veterinary students of all class years. Stipend Veterinary students in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
