The Evaluator serves as a Designated School Official (DSO) and issues I-20's for international students to be able to apply for visas. As the subject matter expert in international evaluations, the Evaluator also plays a key role in functions related to admissions operations for all undergraduate applicants as part of a team of Admissions Evaluators, which includes evaluating transcripts and calculating GPA’s for domestic students, and maintaining data and applicant/record cleanliness.**Position Description:****International (60%)*** Serves as the subject matter expert for evaluating secondary and post-secondary international credentials for incoming students. This includes calculating GPAs according to grading scales from other countries, determining course equivalencies from post-secondary institutions outside the United States, and applying applicants’ previous coursework towards Seattle University’s degree requirements.* Regularly reviews other components of international applications, including auditing for fulfillment of the university’s English Proficiency requirement and confirming citizenship information.* Serves as a Designated School Official (DSO), which involves issuing initial I-20's for incoming international students. Works in close partnership with the International Student and Scholar Center and participates in regular DSO trainings. Communicates with students on missing materials needed for I-20 issuance.* Serves as a member of the undergraduate international admissions group which includes the Sr. Assistant Director for International Recruitment and the International Transfer Admissions Counselor. Participates in regular meetings with the group and supports international functions in close collaboration with the Sr. Assistant Director for International Recruitment.* Supports with monitoring emails in the general international inbox and responding to student questions as needed.**General Admissions Operations (35%)*** Determines course equivalencies and applies applicants’ previous coursework towards Seattle University’s degree requirements and posts appropriate equivalencies of transferred credit hours awarded and current class standing in the University’s ERP and CRM systems, specifically Colleague, Workday, and Slate.* Serves as an academic policy resource for incoming freshmen and transfer students regarding University Core and major transfer requirements for all undergraduate degrees and is a key contact for Transfer Admissions Counselors and designated academic liaisons throughout the University on academic policy matters related to the onboarding of undergraduate students with transferrable credit.* Adds course equivalencies to the online TES database system and assists in the development of effective tools/resources for best practices in communicating transfer course equivalencies to prospective transfers.* Assists in maintaining data and applicant/record cleanliness in various ways working closely with other individuals within the Admissions Operations team and Research and Analytics. These tasks may consist of editing small parts of multiple records, general audits, the scanning and assigning of documents, exporting of data for mass corrections, etc.**Other (5%)*** Participates in office-wide committees, projects, and other duties as assigned in Undergraduate Admissions.**Minimum Qualifications*** Bachelor's degree.* Demonstrated commitment university's mission, vision and values.* One or more years of experience in detailed data entry.* Ability to effectively use and quickly learn new technological systems.* Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to exercise professional judgment to make informed decisions based on experience, reason and policy while considering issues of equity, fairness and historical precedent* Adept at managing and prioritizing multiple tasks* Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.* The ideal candidate will be a resilient and innovative problem solver, have excellent organizational abilities with acute attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills that enable him/her to develop positive relationships with key campus partners and provide personalized attention to prospective students throughout the admissions process**Preferred*** Prior experience in an educational environment in the areas of credential evaluation, academic advising, and/or transfer evaluations.* Familiarity with international education and exposure to schooling systems in other countries.**Compensation at a Glance**$47,000 - $49,000 **Application Instructions** Please attach a cover letter with your resume when applying.
