Job Summary:
Medical Surgical with Telemetry (MS TELE) Nurse position in Newburgh, Indiana, at a healthcare facility. This role involves providing care for complex medical-surgical and telemetry patients, including post-cardiac catheterization patients, stroke/TIA cases, oncology patients, and those recovering from abdominal surgeries. The position requires strong neuro assessment skills and proficiency in telemetry interpretation, with a focus on critical thinking and assessment capabilities.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 12-hour days, 6:30 AM 7:00 PM, minimum of 36 hours per week. Shift times and hours are guaranteed, with potential for additional hours upon request.
• Required Qualifications: Valid active compact license, current AHA BLS certification, NIHSS certification, minimum of two years of experience in Telemetry and Medical-Surgical units, including trauma level II experience, recent EPIC charting experience (will require a checkoff class).
• Preferred Qualifications: NG/PEG tubes, PIV insertion, Tikosyn administration, chest tubes.
• Float: First to float within skillset. Cross-campus float to another campus 8 miles away or potential float to a third campus 11 miles away, with a two-hour notice for cross-campus float.
• On Call/Callback: Not applicable.
• Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Three weekends out of every six-week schedule, every other holiday.
• Additional Information: Must have a current active compact license, NIHSS certification, and pass telemetry interpretation tests (for travelers). The patient population includes complex Med/Surg/Telemetry patients with conditions such as post-cardiac caths, CVA/TIA, ICDs, complex abdominal surgeries, and oncology cases. The unit has 32 beds with a staffing ratio of approximately 1:4-5 during days. Handling of precepting students and new hires may be required. Unit maintains navy blue scrubs without competing logos.
