Manual QA Engineer

Insight Global is looking for a manual QA Engineer to join on our our financial clients supporting a brand-new, web-based application. The QA Engineer will join early in the lifecycle and play a key role in shaping testing practices. The team is currently 100% manual testing, with expectations to gradually introduce automation. The right candidate will have professional experience working with AI agents and prompts.

Key Responsibilities
• Perform strong UI-based application testing for web applications
• Test REST APIs to validate functionality, data accuracy, and integrations
• Execute manual test cases and document results clearly
• Write and maintain test scenarios, test cases, and test stories
• Utilizing AI agents to help with testing
• Participate in Agile ceremonies, including grooming sessions and story pointing
• Contribute to QA effort estimation and testing strategy discussions
• Support test execution across functional, regression, and exploratory testing
• Create and update automation scripts as needed (not full ownership)
• Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and other QA team members
• Comfortable working on a new project with evolving processes
• Ability to work independently while collaborating in a team environment

Required Skills & Experience
• Mid-level QA experience with manual testing as a foundation
• Strong understanding of functional testing concepts
• UI application testing
• Experience testing web applications, APIs, and databases
• Familiarity with AI concepts as they relate to test automation
• Understanding of how AI agents are used, not required to test or build them
• Experience using AI prompts and understanding prompt-based workflows
• Hands-on API testing experience
• SQL skills (queries, validation, simple joins)
• Understanding of web-based application architecture
• Experience with Playwright (TypeScript)
• Some automation experience and an understanding of how automation frameworks work
• Ability to create and update test scripts
• Experience participating in grooming sessions
• Writing stories and story pointing
• Must be able to do test executions with some automation scripts
