Controller

Our client, a rapidly growing consumer products manufacturer in the Nashville area, is seeking a Controller to join its leadership team. This is an exciting opportunity to step into a highly visible role with a company experiencing significant growth and investing in its finance and accounting organization.

Reporting to the VP of Finance, the Controller will lead the accounting function, oversee a growing team, and partner closely with operations and executive leadership to strengthen financial processes and support continued expansion.

Responsibilities

• Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process while ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
• Oversee the accounting team, providing coaching, mentorship, and professional development.
• Maintain a strong internal control environment and continuously improve accounting processes and workflows.
• Coordinate annual audits and serve as the primary liaison with external auditors.
• Research and apply technical accounting guidance while ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards.
• Oversee payroll and support state and local tax compliance activities.
• Partner cross-functionally with operations and leadership to provide financial insights that support business decisions.
• Help optimize ERP processes and contribute to ongoing systems and process improvements.

Qualifications

• CPA required.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• 10 years of progressive accounting experience with a strong foundation in technical accounting.
• Public accounting experience strongly preferred.
• Prior leadership experience managing and developing accounting teams.
• Experience within manufacturing or consumer products is preferred but not required.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, financial reporting, and month-end close.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively across all levels of the organization.
• Hands-on, collaborative leadership style with a continuous improvement mindset.
