WCS HealthCare is partnering with a large organization dedicated to serving patients with developmental disabilities throughout New York City. We are currently seeking a full-time Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) to join a team of interdisciplinary professionals supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in Brooklyn, NY.

Schedule:  Flexible, open to fulltime and part time 

Key Responsibilities:

• Review medical records and verify physician orders and assessments before initiating treatment.
• Maintain current prescriptions in compliance with NYS Department of Health and OPWDD guidelines.
• Collaborate with supervisors and healthcare professionals to assess sensorimotor, musculoskeletal, and CNS status, as well as ambulation and adaptive equipment needs.
• Document treatment plans, progress, and outcomes in ECW within required timeframes; ensure documentation is co-signed by a licensed PT when applicable.
• Provide training to individuals, families, and staff on follow-through programs and equipment use.
• Participate in care planning and team meetings as needed.
• Deliver therapy services including ROM exercises, ADLs, wheelchair mobility, and physical modalities under the supervision of a licensed PT.
• Support discharge planning and communicate effectively across care teams.
• Travel to assigned sites as needed and assist with transfers and use of mechanical lifters.

Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant program.
• Licensed or eligible for licensure in New York State.
• Knowledge of therapeutic exercises and ambulatory aids.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; computer literacy required.
• Physical ability to perform transfers and operate lifting equipment.

Requirements:

• Maintain current licensure and participate in mandatory training programs.
• Adhere to all agency policies, compliance standards, and state/federal regulations.
• Participate in corporate compliance training annually and cooperate fully with reviews and investigations.

Additional Requirements:

• Must be able to travel to assigned sites across boroughs
• Attend and participate in mandatory educational programs as defined by the agency and NYS.
• Maintain current licensure and adhere to all applicable laws, regulations, and agency policies.
• Comply with corporate compliance programs, including mandatory reporting and annual training.
