Role Description The Controller is a full-time, on-site role in Tampa, FL reporting directly to the President, owning financial reporting, analysis, budgeting, internal controls, audits, cash management, and compliance. It produces GAAP financial statements with budget variances, forecasts, and the operating metrics leadership actually uses, and owns construction billing: service and production invoicing, AIA G702 and G703 payment applications, and work-in-progress schedules with over and under billings. The role maintains certificate of insurance and Notice of Commencement records, provides lien releases in coordination with counsel, works with department leaders on budgets, job costs, contracts, change orders, and purchase orders, and forecasts trends against annual revenue goals. It manages external audits including annual bonding requirements and capacity increases, oversees cash, ensures tax compliance and filings, reviews and submits payroll, and improves the financial systems it inherits. Qualifications Commercial construction experience is required and candidates without it will not be considered. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with commercial construction industry experience. This requirement is not flexible. Three to five or more years working all aspects of audits for bonding purposes. Strong command of AIA G702 and G703 applications, GAAP, and high-transaction-volume analysis. CPA, CMA, or MBA, or active progress toward one. Florida licensure preferred. Advanced Excel and proficiency with construction accounting systems. Exceptional communication and discretion.
