- Deliver life-saving direct patient care as an ECMO Specialist, operating extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for critically ill children and pediatric patients.
- Monitor ECMO pump function, circuit integrity, and patient response to ensure safe, continuous extracorporeal life support therapy.
- Assess anticoagulation, electrolytes, acid-base balance, and blood gas values, adjusting ECMO therapy to maintain optimal pediatric patient outcomes.
- Administer blood products, medications, and fluid volumes during ECMO therapy while maintaining accurate clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support pediatric care coordination, patient safety, quality improvement, and onboarding of new ECMO Specialist team members.
- One or more of the following:
- Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Department of State Health Services obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner Certification Program obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
- High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate' degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
- Previous Pediatric ECMO Specialist experience strongly preferred.
- Critical Care experience in a fast paced hospital setting
