How you'll make an impact in this role
  • Deliver life-saving direct patient care as an ECMO Specialist, operating extracorporeal membrane oxygenation for critically ill children and pediatric patients.
  • Monitor ECMO pump function, circuit integrity, and patient response to ensure safe, continuous extracorporeal life support therapy.
  • Assess anticoagulation, electrolytes, acid-base balance, and blood gas values, adjusting ECMO therapy to maintain optimal pediatric patient outcomes.
  • Administer blood products, medications, and fluid volumes during ECMO therapy while maintaining accurate clinical documentation in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support pediatric care coordination, patient safety, quality improvement, and onboarding of new ECMO Specialist team members.
What minimum requirements you'll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • One or more of the following:
    • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Texas Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Department of State Health Services obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Respiratory Care Practitioner credentialed from the Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner

      Certification Program obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
    • Respiratory Therapist specializing in Registered credentialed from the National Board for

      Respiratory Care (NBRC) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Education:
  • High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate'

    degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
What additional preferences we're seeking

  • Previous Pediatric ECMO Specialist experience strongly preferred.
  • Critical Care experience in a fast paced hospital setting
