Summer Camp Director and Operations Lead

Summer Camp Director and Operations Lead Own the full delivery of summer camps from setup to closeout. You run operations, staffing, safety, parent communication, and day to day cadence so instructors can focus on teaching. Reports to CEO Works closely with Lead Instructor, site hosts, admin support, marketing, and enrollment. Core Outcomes This Role Must Deliver Zero chaos mornings with fast, organized, welcoming check-in. High safety standards with procedures followed and documented. Staffing stability with schedules covered and issues handled same day. Parent confidence with proactive, clear, reliable communication. Strong student experience so kids feel seen, engaged, and excited to return. Key Responsibilities 1) Camp operations and daily leadership Run daily opening and closing procedures. Manage check-in, check-out, and authorized pickup protocols. Maintain daily schedule integrity and smooth transitions between activities. Handle real-time issues involving behavior, minor injuries, parent concerns, and staff gaps. Keep supplies, devices, kits, and materials ready and accounted for. 2) Safety, compliance, and risk management Enforce child safety rules and staff to student ratios. Lead incident response and documentation for injuries, escalations, and facility issues. Verify background checks, training completion, and required paperwork. Maintain emergency plans and drills for fire, weather, lockdown, and medical scenarios. 3) Staffing, training, and performance Hire, schedule, and manage counselors and support staff. Lead staff onboarding and pre-camp training. Coach staff in classroom management and customer service basics. Track performance and intervene early when issues appear. 4) Parent communication and customer experience Send daily updates and reminders with clear expectations. Resolve parent issues quickly with professionalism. Own late pickup enforcement and escalation policies. Ensure communication is clear, consistent, and aligned to the brand. 5) Enrollment support and logistics Coordinate rosters, attendance, waivers, and medical notes. Ensure grouped placement and accommodations are honored. Coordinate lunch procedures, allergies, medication handling, and breaks. Partner with marketing and admin to reduce no-shows and last-minute confusion. 6) Quality control and continuous improvement Run end-of-day debriefs and implement fixes within 24 hours. Track metrics weekly and report to the CEO. Own the playbook so camps become repeatable year over year. Required Qualifications 3 or more years leading youth programs, camps, after-school, or childcare operations. Proven ability to manage staff, parents, and kids calmly under pressure. Strong operational discipline with checklists, routines, and documentation. Excellent written communication and conflict resolution. Experience with safety protocols and incident documentation. Preferred Camp Director experience or school operations background. Familiarity with STEM or robotics programs. First Aid and CPR certification or willingness to obtain immediately. Retention signals such as repeat enrollments, referrals, and positive reviews. Pay Approach Seasonal full-time for the summer term, with planning weeks before camp starts.
