Vent Nurse Unit Manager

The Vent Nurse Unit Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating resident care activities, unit operations, and nursing personnel within the Ventilator Unit. This position provides clinical leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality resident care while maintaining compliance with facility policies, regulatory requirements, and best practices.

Schedule: 6:45am-3:15pm

Pay Rate: LPN Vent Unit Manager: $36.00-41.35/hr RN Vent Unit Manager: $38.00-$47.80/hr

Sign-on/Retention Bonus - up to $5,000

Essential Qualifications: Educational: Graduate of accredited nursing program Licensure: Current Massachusetts Nursing License Skills: Solid management and interpersonal abilities necessary to communicate with staff. Ability to manager several tasks simultaneously and meet required deadlines Has sufficient endurance to perform tasks over a long period of time. Must have the ability to perform essential functions without posing a "direct threat" to patients or other staff.

Essential Functions:

• Evaluates residents' status and unit activities at the beginning of each shift and ensures adequate nursing staffing is available to provide safe, high-quality care.
• Conducts regular rounds on the unit to assess resident status and evaluate staff performance.
• Recommends staffing patterns and workforce needs to nursing administration.
• Recommends equipment and supply needs to nursing administration.
• Monitors employee attendance, including lateness and absenteeism, and provides coaching and counseling as needed to improve attendance.
• Participates in employee counseling and disciplinary processes.
• Conducts unit meetings with nursing staff.
• Ensures resident assessments and care plans are developed, reviewed, and revised as required and in accordance with regulatory and facility standards.
• Oversees direct care activities to ensure practices are consistent with facility policies and procedures.
• Participates in the development and implementation of resident care plans.
• Evaluates residents' status and the appropriateness and effectiveness of care provided.
• Coordinates resident care and communicates effectively with residents' families and significant others.
• Reports changes in residents' condition to the physician and Assistant Director of Nursing and/or Shift Supervisor and maintains effective working relationships with physicians.
• Provides direct resident care as needed.
• Collaborates with the Staff Development Coordinator to plan, implement, and evaluate staff education and development programs.
• Provides instruction and participates in orientation programs for new employees.
• Provides ongoing informal education and guidance to employees as needed.
• Ensures concerns, issues, and complaints related to nursing services are addressed in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Maintains the confidentiality and privacy of residents and employees.
• Fosters positive working relationships between nursing staff and other departments.
• Ensures all staff comply with facility infection prevention, control, and safety standards.
• Participates in the on-call rotation for weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

Preferred: Associates or better in Nursing

Preferred: Licensed Practical Nurse
