Essential Functions Knowledge of evaluations, data collection, and positive behavior intervention systems is required. High task orientation and strong people skills. Must have knowledge and skills in staff development, PBIS, Common Core, assessments, PERA, balanced literacy, and possess visionary leadership skills. Performance Responsibilities Contribute to and facilitate the learning needs of students and encourage staff through example. Evaluate staff performance according to district evaluation plan and PERA. Provide staff development/in-service or direct staff to other offerings to improve performance. Select, hire, and manage performance of building staff, except some itinerant special education staff and contractors. Recommend changes or improvements in all areas of operation to best serve students. Collect, record, store, and make available data for planning and decision‑making, managing data in accordance with privacy acts and district policy. Collaborate with elementary principals and district administrators to advance elementary education and promote district‑wide activities. Establish good relationships with parents and businesses to bring school and community together. Develop personal and professional growth plan to increase proficiency in leadership role. Support and maintain a positive school climate. Manage all aspects of the physical environment to facilitate education, ensure health and safety of students and staff, and perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Master's Degree from an accredited college or university with training in administration, supervision, and curriculum development at the elementary or middle school level. Illinois Licensure with Administrative Endorsement. Three years of successful teaching experience, preferably at the elementary or middle school level. Three years or more of successful administrative, supervisory, or leadership experience at the elementary or middle school level. Other Skills and Abilities Administrative leadership style based on effective human relations and continuous improvement model. Visible accessibility. Excellent communication, presentation, and listening skills. Vision, compassion, and enthusiasm for effective team leadership to motivate high standards and continuous improvement. Demonstrated knowledge of best practices in curriculum and instruction at the elementary school level. Must possess or be able to obtain proper certification from ISBE under Section 24A‑3 of the School Code enabling evaluation of certified employees and maintain this certification during employment. Must complete therapeutic crisis training. Physical Requirements The job requires sitting, walking, standing, and light physical effort. Occasionally the job requires the ability to intervene physically with students. Terms of Employment Salary determined by the Superintendent. 11‑month calendar year. Exempt position.
