Principal Account Clerk (Thrall Public Library District of Middletown & Wallkill) Middletown Thrall Library , a special district public library chartered to serve 59,174 residents of Orange County NY, is seeking applicants for the position of Principal Account Clerk . This is a full‑time position in the library’s business office. Minimum Qualifications: Either Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field; OR Completion of sixty (60) college credits and two (2) years clerical experience involving the maintenance or auditing of financial accounts or records and preparation of related reports involving the use of computerized financial accounting systems or spreadsheet software OR Graduation from High School or High School equivalency degree and three (3) years of clerical experience as outlined above Desired Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics: Good knowledge of financial accounting and record‑keeping practices Good knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, and accounting applications (Microsoft Word, Excel and QuickBooks) Previous experience working with NYS accounting codes preferred Excellent communication, time management, critical thinking and interpersonal skills; We are looking for an honest, responsible and organized person with the ability to work closely with the Library Director and Library Administrative Assistant to build and maintain positive and productive relationships with library staff and the library’s board of trustees. Must possess a sense of humor and enjoy working as part of our administrative team. Typical Work Activities Reviews and maintains a variety of financial records and reports Posts figures to appropriate accounts, makes all necessary adjustments in balances and verifies and reconciles balances, renews status of accounts as adjustments are made and takes receipts for monies received. Processes vouchers for payment prepares and distributes checks according to prescribed procedures. Compiles prepares and analyses a variety of complex daily, weekly and monthly financial and statistical records and reports which may be compiled into NYS or federal reports or claims for State or federal reimbursement Does related work as required.
