Supervisor Clinical Nurse IV - Rex Labor and Delivery

UNC REX Labor and Delivery OR cares for patients during labor, delivery and recovery post-childbirth. They also care for high risk antepartum and postpartum patients. This unit consists of a 3 bay OBED, 20 labor rooms, 3 ORs, and 3 PACU bays. Nurses on our unit circulate C‑sections on expectant mothers, working with physicians and the support of nursing assistants and surgical technicians. UNC REX has a dedicated team of OB hospitalists who provide fast care and assessment or emergency services for patients during pregnancy or labor and delivery. We also partner with many private practice OB/GYNs and CNMs. Nurse/Patient Ratio: 1:1 – 1:2 Key Responsibilities Deliver safe, high‑quality, patient‑centered care using the nursing process Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes Assess, monitor, and adjust care plans based on patient needs Support staff development, education, and a positive team environment Contribute to staffing, operational efficiency, and quality improvement initiatives Promote evidence‑based practice and continuous clinical excellence Leadership and Development Responsibilities Co‑ordinate, design and implement educational programs and continuing education for staff, patients and families Evaluate patient progress and revise plans accordingly, ensuring accountability for all components of care Promote an environment that values diversity, communication, teamwork and exceptional service; facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration in patient/client care planning Provide feedback to management and assist in hiring, promotion and retention of staff; model and reinforce constructive feedback practices Analyze data from complex situations to determine care priorities and synthesize assessment data into meaningful communication Set standards of excellence for areas of responsibility and ensure consistent implementation by staff; collaborate with management on staffing, financial and regulatory goals Collaborate on research, performance improvement initiatives and implement changes in standards of care Qualifications BSN required Active NC RN license & BCLS certification Specialty certification within probationary period Minimum 1 year RN experience Legal Employer and Work Details Legal Employer: NCHEALTH.
