Job Description

The Shipping and Receiving Manager oversees all incoming and outgoing materials for a precision aerospace manufacturing facility. This role manages warehouse and inventory operations, coordinates domestic and international shipments of aerospace components, ensures strict compliance with customer and regulatory requirements, and leads a team of warehouse personnel. The position requires strong knowledge of traceability, documentation, and on-time delivery within a machine shop or aerospace manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Manage all shipping, receiving, warehouse, and inventory operations to support aerospace manufacturing activities.
• Coordinate domestic and international shipments of aerospace components, ensuring on-time delivery and accurate documentation.
• Verify incoming materials against purchase orders and packing slips to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Ensure proper packaging, labeling, and documentation for aerospace parts in accordance with internal and customer requirements.
• Maintain high inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
• Create, process, and maintain work orders, material movements, and inventory transactions in ERP systems.
• Ensure material traceability and lot control requirements are consistently maintained for all aerospace components.
• Coordinate closely with production, quality, purchasing, and program management teams to align material flow with operational needs.
• Manage freight carriers, shipping schedules, and logistics costs to optimize service levels and expenses.
• Lead, train, and develop warehouse personnel while promoting and enforcing safety standards.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies, identify root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO, FAA, ITAR, and specific customer requirements in all shipping and receiving activities.

Essential Skills

• Proven experience in shipping and receiving within a machine shop or aerospace manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on experience with ERP systems for managing work orders, material movements, and inventory transactions.
• Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO, FAA, and ITAR requirements related to aerospace materials and documentation.
• Ability to manage and coordinate domestic and international shipments of aerospace components.
• Demonstrated leadership skills in supervising, training, and developing warehouse personnel.
• Proficiency in using RF scanners and related warehouse technology for inventory control.
• Experience with forklift operation and safe material handling practices.
• Strong understanding of materials management, supply chain processes, and bill of materials (BOM).
• Ability to maintain material traceability and lot control in a regulated aerospace environment.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in documentation, labeling, and recordkeeping.
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with production, quality, purchasing, and program management teams.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working in a precision aerospace manufacturing facility or machine shop environment.
• Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems for inventory and materials management.
• Knowledge of warehouse inventory best practices and continuous improvement methods.
• Understanding of customer-specific aerospace requirements and documentation standards.

Work Environment

The role is based in a precision aerospace manufacturing facility with an active warehouse and shipping area. You will work closely with production, quality, purchasing, and program management teams in a fast-paced environment that requires careful coordination of materials and schedules. The position involves regular use of ERP systems, RF scanners, and other warehouse technology, as well as operating forklifts and handling packaged aerospace components. Work is typically performed on-site in a structured setting with established safety procedures and standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Decatur, AL.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $37.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
