Job Summary:
Emergency Room (ER) Nurse position in a high-acuity Level I Trauma Center located in an urban setting. The role involves providing emergency care to trauma, sepsis, chest pain, shortness of breath, and stroke patients, with a patient care environment characterized by rapid pace and significant clinical demands. This position is suited for experienced ER nurses capable of managing complex, high-acuity cases in a fast-paced environment.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Night shifts, 12 hours per shift, minimum of 48 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Valid licensure to practice as a registered nurse, Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred, current certifications including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS), and Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC). Candidates must have at least 2 years of ER experience, with recent experience in a Level I or Level II trauma center.
• Additional Information:
  • Must possess a valid drivers license used to confirm geographic eligibility within 50 miles of the facility.
  • Artificial nails are prohibited; refusal to remove artificial nails will result in contract termination.
  • RNs are required to pass a pass/fail skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation, which is an open-book assessment provided with all necessary resources.
  • Willingness to float to the observation (OBS) unit and Freestanding Creighton ER at least once a week.
  • One week of onboarding plus two shifts in another facility, plus one shift at a designated ER.
  • Prior RTO (Return to Office) request must be submitted upfront for periods of 7 days or less within the 13-week contract; additional RTO requests will not be approved.
  • The hospital maintains a 24/7 security presence, with staffing including ER physicians, mid-level providers, charge nurses, and support staff such as nurse aides, EMTs, and paramedics.
  • Shifts include coverage from 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with various start times.
  • The facility utilizes EPIC electronic medical record system.
  • COVID-19 and other hospital policies, including a strict fingernail policy, are in place to ensure safety and compliance.
