Part-Time Pool PositionThis is for a part-time pool position, assignments are available during the academic year. All volunteer patients are required to have a faculty performed back scan to ensure volunteer patient safety. An appropriately credentialed sonographer in that area of specialty must perform faculty back scans. This position is limited to no more than 19 hours per week.Supervises a large population of students in the laboratory at various times and locationsSupervises all student scans performed in the lab setting by performing a "back scan" to ensure the scan volunteer has been thoroughly evaluatedReviews student images and waveforms, provide feedbackPossesses a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellenceDemonstrates effective communication skills, both written and oralPrepares and utilizes a course syllabus and assessments for each course using guidelines established by the institutionPrepares and maintains lab supplies and equipmentTroubleshoots laboratory equipment including ECG units, stress testing/treadmill system, Doppler units, physiologic testing units, ultrasound systems and digital image archive systemAccesses laboratory inventory to request additional supplies when neededMaintains current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilizes a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resourcesMaintains current knowledge of all ultrasound systems and ancillary equipment in the labAssists in the recruitment and retention of students by participating in health fairs, career fairs, college nights, program tours, and civic functionsAdvises students in academic matters or refer students to appropriate resourcesAssesses students' performance through a range of measurement activities and keep them informed of their progress in a timely mannerUtilizes technology to facilitate learning and to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with othersAssists in the development, distribution and collection of assessments for courses and program objectivesBuilds positive and professional relationship with students, colleagues, college administration, and the communitySubmits timely college reports and forms to the appropriate divisions and departmentsProvides recommendations to the Instructional Dean, Department Chair, and appropriate college committees regarding curriculum, instruction and division operationsExhibits a commitment to lifelong learning through participation in professional development activitiesAdheres to the College's policies and proceduresAttends institutional and departmental meetings as requiredOther related duties as assigned.Work environment: The employee typically works in a classroom, hospital, and/or health care environment and uses a computer, telephone and other office equipment as needed to perform duties. Only appropriately credentialed sonographers may supervise scans that are directly pertaining to the specific credential being taught. Accepted Credentials include: ARDMS – RDCS (AE, PE, FE), RVT, CCI – RCS, RCCS, RVT, RVS, RPhS, CCTPreferred qualifications:At least one year college-level experience which includes clinical preceptorshipBilingual – English/SpanishKnowledge, skills, and abilities:Must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, as well as intermediate computer skillsMust be familiar with interactive teaching methods and instruction via the internetMust be familiar with a variety of ultrasound and non-imaging diagnostic equipmentMust be familiar with digital archive image storage systemsWorking knowledge of Blackboard course management system preferred
