The University of Miami is offering a full‑time opportunity for a Registered Nurse 2 in the Preadmissions Unit located in Miami, Florida. The role focuses on delivering patient‑family centered care in a culturally competent manner, utilizing evidence‑based standards of quality, safety, and service while ensuring population‑specific patient care. Core Job Functions Assesses assigned patients and documents nursing care plans. Reports symptoms, changes in patients’ condition, and vital signs. Modifies patient treatment plans based on patient responses, conditions, and physician orders. Reviews, evaluates, and reports diagnostic test results. Consults with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. Prepares patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments. Considers patient age and culture during treatments and provides necessary information regarding the treatment plan. Provides psychological support within a compassionate environment. Performs patient tests and safely administers medications within the scope of practice. Maintains accurate medication and treatment records in compliance with regulatory bodies, policies, procedures, and physician orders. Communicates care plans to patients, families, and team members in a timely manner, ensuring HIPAA compliance. Employs best practices for the transition of patient care. Utilizes available resources to assist in discharge planning. Plans, prioritizes, and adjusts assignments to achieve goals and deliver superior patient care; seeks assistance when needed. Adapts to changing work demands and environment. Safely operates medical equipment. Serves as a preceptor and assists new staff in acclimating to the healthcare environment, while maintaining direct patient care responsibilities. Provides concise, constructive feedback when needed. Adheres to University and unit‑level policies and procedures, safeguarding university assets. Qualifications Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution (ACEN and/or CCNE). Certification and Licensing: State of Florida Registered Nurse License; BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications. Experience: Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience. Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes: Knowledge of medical terminology. Knowledge of nursing care methods and procedures. In‑depth knowledge of health and safety guidelines and procedures (e.g., sanitation, decontamination). Excellent patient experience skills. Problem analysis, recognition, and solution skills. Strong interpersonal relationship building. Effective oral and written communication.
