The Modern Analytics & Insights team helps drive an insights-led culture across Microsoft's Small, Medium Enterprise & Channel (SME&C) business. As a Senior Business Analytics Specialist for the Security Sales Motion, you will partner with sales leadership to solve high-impact, often ambiguous challenges through analytics, business intelligence, and data storytelling. You'll work at the intersection of strategy, business operations, and technology, architecting scalable reporting and analytics solutions that influence decision-making across a multi-billion-dollar global business.

In this role, you'll collaborate closely with stakeholders, engineering teams, and analytics partners to design modern data solutions using tools such as Microsoft Fabric and Power BI. From defining business requirements and building semantic models to delivering executive-ready insights, you'll play a critical role in transforming data into measurable business outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Partner with business stakeholders to understand complex, ambiguous challenges and translate them into scalable data and business intelligence solutions.
• Act as a trusted advisor, providing data-driven recommendations that influence strategic decisions and drive measurable business impact.
• Design and deliver end-to-end analytics solutions, including data models, semantic layers, dashboards, and self-service reporting experiences.
• Collaborate with engineering and technical teams to define requirements, shape data architecture, and ensure high-quality data foundations for reporting and insights.
• Leverage platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, PowerBI, or related technologies to create intuitive, impactful analytics experiences for business users.
• Lead the development of reporting frameworks, performance metrics, and evaluation methodologies that help the business measure outcomes and identify opportunities.
• Drive continuous improvement through automation, standardization, and innovative approaches that increase efficiency and scalability across analytics processes.
• Present insights and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, tailoring communication to influence decisions at all levels.
• Foster strong cross-functional partnerships and promote a culture of curiosity, growth, accountability, and data-informed decision making.
• Mentor others through analytical best practices while helping elevate the organization's overall data and business intelligence capabilities.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 3+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 4+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR equivalent experience.
• Master's Degree in Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 6+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Finance, Mathematics, Analytics, Engineering, Computer Science, Marketing, Business, Economics or related field AND 8+ years experience in data analysis and reporting, business intelligence, or business and financial analysis OR equivalent experience.
• Experience translating complex, ambiguous business challenges into scalable analytics, reporting, and business intelligence solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to partner with senior business stakeholders, challenge assumptions, and provide strategic, data-driven recommendations that influence decision-making.
• Deep business acumen with the ability to understand underlying business objectives and independently architect analytics solutions rather than work from predefined requirements.
• Proven track record of bridging business and technical teams by translating business needs into clear data, reporting, and engineering requirements.
• Hands-on experience with modern analytics platforms, including Microsoft Fabric, PowerBI, semantic models, and enterprise reporting solutions.
• Knowledge of data architecture concepts, including data modeling, semantic layer design, data governance, and self-service analytics enablement.
• Experience designing intuitive dashboards, visualizations, and user experiences that drive adoption and actionable insights.
• Proven track record of delivering analytics solutions in partnership with engineering, data science, or contractor development teams.
• Effective communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to present complex analytical findings to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Demonstrated growth mindset, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for continuous learning, innovation, and process improvement.
• Experience driving automation, standardization, and scalability across reporting and analytics processes.
• Ability to influence without authority, build trusted relationships across organizations, and effectively navigate competing stakeholder priorities.

Requirements

• Business Analytics IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $106,400 - $203,600 per year.
• There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $137,600 - $222,600 per year.
