About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Labor and Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 3-5 years in high acuity & high pace environment (5 years with high risk experience preferred) License: Active compact license required Certifications: BLS, NRP, ACLS*, AWHONN Advanced*, AWHONN Intermediate Must-Have: Candidates must have current supervisory references. Candidates must pass clinical review. Candidates must circulate and provide newborn care including assessments. Description: This position requires a Registered Nurse in Labor and Delivery. The nurse will function in a high-risk and high-volume labor and delivery environment. Candidates should have experience in midwifery, private OBs, and supporting adult recovery services. The nurse will work in a fast-paced environment with an average daily census of 15 and 500-600 deliveries per month. Circulating during deliveries and providing care to newborns are essential responsibilities. The nurse must be familiar with electronic fetal monitoring. Experience in high-risk antepartum and postpartum care is highly valued. Candidates must be able to work every other weekend and holidays as needed. Floating to postpartum and antepartum units may be required. Knowledge of staffing guidelines and procedures for high-risk obstetrics is critical. Special procedures include managing newborn care, assessments, and administering necessary medications. The nurse is expected to provide breastfeeding support and lactation support as needed. Participation in team meetings and adherence to unit protocols are expected. Candidates must have solid assessment skills and be proficient in handling emergencies related to obstetrical patients.
