Senior Newsletter Writer We are CNN, the world’s most essential and engaging source of digital news. As we accelerate our transformation, we need a senior newsletter writer to lead the creation, refinement, and expansion of our flagship evening newsletter. The senior newsletter writer collaborates with a senior editor and newsletter team leadership to analyze audience insights and performance data, iterating on the product as audience needs evolve. This role may also be asked to write or edit additional newsletters as bandwidth allows. Role Accountabilities Write a flagship evening newsletter that delves deeper into the day’s most important or compelling news, with a conversational yet journalistically rigorous approach that upholds CNN’s editorial standards. Work with newsletter editor and team leadership to set and execute strategic goals for the newsletter that align with the audience organization’s mission. Regularly pitch ideas for new features and rubrics in the newsletter that will improve its editorial quality and deepen audience loyalty. Collaborate with off-platform and communications stakeholders to creatively promote the newsletter and expose it to new audiences. Potentially write and/or edit other newsletters, as determined by manager. Qualifications & Experience 5-7 years of relevant experience, including reporting or writing on a daily deadline and fact-checking (your own work or others’). A strong generalist with great news judgment, a lively, engaging writing style, and nonstop ideas. A strategic thinker who can connect their daily work to the organization’s larger goals. A creative thinker who can use audience insights to continually experiment and iterate. A clear communicator and proactive collaborator with endless curiosity about our audiences’ interests and needs. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery’s total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $80,500.00 - $149,500.00 salary per year. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, short- and long-term incentives, and program-specific awards. In addition, Warner Bros.
