Benefits Representative

We are seeking a dedicated Benefits Representative to provide comprehensive benefits-related support and information to our faculty, staff, and retirees. This role requires a deep understanding of our benefit plans, programs, and policies to ensure effective communication and resolution of inquiries.

Responsibilities

• Provide day-to-day benefits-related research and information to faculty, staff, and retirees, addressing questions about health and welfare plans, employee and dependent eligibility, and enrollment completion.
• Review and approve enrollment by faculty and staff in the Health & Welfare Plans online, ensuring all necessary documentation is received for elections made.
• Respond to client inquiries and complaints to ensure timely and courteous resolution of problems related to benefits enrollment and processing.
• Act as a liaison with university employees and external benefits contacts, providing guidance in the resolution of eligibility, claims, and enrollment issues.
• Review and triage all assigned reports.
• Utilize internal and external databases for cross-referencing inquiries to determine resolutions.
• Maintain customer service standards as outlined for the team.
• Be proficient in various software applications, such as spreadsheets, word processing, and graphics packages, to assemble, manipulate, and format data and reports.
• Apply a working knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations affecting benefits.
• Attend designated training programs, seminars, and meetings.
• Serve on workgroups and committees as requested.
• Perform special duties and projects.
• Handle confidential information appropriately.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

• Two years of benefits-related experience.
• Proficiency in customer service, HR benefits, and customer service call centers.
• Experience with open enrollment and benefits.
• Familiarity with Workday and customer support platforms.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Additional education may substitute for required experience, as permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Work Environment

The position requires working on-site 4 days a week with 1 day remote. The work location is 1101 E 33rd Street, Baltimore, MD. The contract is expected to last until at least the end of the year.

This is a Contract position based out of Baltimore, MD.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $23.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
