We produce exclusive small-lot wines from estate vineyards across Rutherford, Oakville, St. Helena, Howell Mountain, Pritchard Hill, and the Sonoma Coast. About the Role

The Tasting Room Assistant Manager helps lead day-to-day operations across both of our cave tasting locations, ensuring every guest has an exceptional, memorable experience. This is a hands-on, customer-facing role that combines team leadership, sales execution, and operational discipline. You bring the energy, attention to detail, and hospitality mindset that turns first-time visitors into longtime members.

What You'll Own:
•  Lead day-to-day tasting room operations across our two cave locations
•  Deliver and oversee consistent, premium guest experiences for every visitor
•  Train, coach, and develop team members on tasting room procedures, wine knowledge, and service standards
•  Support staff scheduling and hiring decisions in collaboration with the Tasting Room Manager
•  Meet sales goals and revenue targets, including driving private tasting bookings
•  Maintain a deep working knowledge of our tasting menu, wine portfolio, and partner winery Villa Del Lago offerings
•  Support inventory management, pricing, and retail stocking
•  Ensure all opening, closing, cash handling, and security procedures are completed accurately
•  Support events as they arise across both locations
•  Make staffing decisions based on tasting room traffic patterns
•  Meet regularly with ownership and management to review performance and goals

What We're Looking For:
•  Prior serving or hospitality experience strongly preferred
•  Prior management or supervisory experience strongly preferred
•  Genuine interest in wine and willingness to deepen your wine knowledge (prior wine knowledge a plus but not required)
•  Strong leadership presence; able to direct team members confidently while maintaining a positive, professional tone
•  Sales-driven mindset with the ability to convert visits into long-term member relationships
•  Detail-oriented and organized, comfortable with cash handling, inventory, and operational responsibilities
•  Comfortable working weekends and some holidays; flexible schedule based on tasting room needs
•  Looking for a long-term home, not a stepping-stone role
Certifications

The following certifications are required for this role. If you do not already hold them, training will be assigned upon hiring and must be completed within the timeframes below:
•  RBS (Responsible Beverage Service) Certification, completed within 30 days of hire through an authorized RBS Training Provider
•  Food Handler Certification, assigned upon hire
•  Harassment Prevention Training, completed on a biannual basis

Additionally, all new team members complete an in-house knowledge exam within three weeks of hire, covering menu presentation, wine knowledge, winery information, and procedures. Continued employment is contingent upon passage of the exam.

The Details:
•  Compensation: $20.00 to $24.00 per hour base, with commission earning potential of $35.00 to $44.00 per hour
•  Full-time or part-time, including weekends and some holidays
•  In-person at our St. Helena and Yountville cave tasting locations
•  Benefits include health insurance, paid time off, wine allocation, and team wine tastings
•  Reports to the Tasting Room Manager; works closely with ownership and the broader tasting room team
