ULTRASOUND TECHNOLOGISTPOSITION SUMMARYThe Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations to assist healthcare providers in the evaluation and treatment of medical conditions. This position is responsible for ensuring patient safety and comfort, obtaining high quality diagnostic images, maintaining accurate documentation, and collaborating effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESPrepare patients for ultrasound examinations, explain procedures, answer questions, and ensure patient comfort throughout the exam.Operate ultrasound equipment safely and effectively to obtain high quality diagnostic images of internal organs, tissues, and structures.Perform a variety of ultrasound examinations, including abdominal, OB/GYN, vascular, and other studies as appropriate to the position.Review images for quality and completeness and provide technical information and impressions to physicians as appropriate.Accurately document examination information, patient records, image logs, and reports within EMR and PACS systems.Maintain accurate and complete patient documentation in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.Ensure ultrasound equipment is clean, properly functioning, and maintained according to manufacturer and organizational standards.Identify equipment issues and report malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.Follow infection control procedures, patient safety standards, and confidentiality requirements at all times.Maintain compliance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and professional standards.Participate in continuing education and maintain all required certifications and credentials.Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and respect when interacting with patients, providers, coworkers, and other members of the healthcare team.Perform other duties as assigned to support organizational and business needs.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEMinimum Education Requirements: Graduate of an accredited radiologic or diagnostic medical sonography program with an Associate's degree or higher. One year certificate from a college or technical school may be considered when combined with applicable education and experience. ARRT registered or ARRT registry eligible is required. Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered where appropriate.Relevant Work Experience: Six months to one year of related experience and/or training preferred.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams.
