About the Role

The Company is seeking a Managing Director, Policy to spearhead the development and implementation of high-impact policy positions that align with the organization's mission. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the policy function, setting the strategic direction, and ensuring the quality and coherence of all policy work. This role demands a senior expert with a proven track record in policy development, government, research, or advocacy, and a deep understanding of the economic and policy implications of AI. The Managing Director will be at the forefront of shaping the policy agenda, engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, and representing the organization in external settings. Key responsibilities include building and managing a high-performing policy team, developing the policy agenda, and translating complex policy issues into clear, compelling narratives. The ideal candidate will have a strong network in the relevant communities, the ability to engage with policymakers across the ideological spectrum, and a commitment to economic fairness and the responsible development of AI. They should be comfortable with a high level of ambiguity, be adept at making sound judgments in uncertain situations, and be dedicated to the values of the organization. A Bachelor's degree is required, with a preference for an advanced degree, and a minimum of 15 years of relevant experience.
