About the Position

Job Title: Respiratory Therapist Profession: Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics Specialty: RRT-NICU Duration: 13 weeks or 26 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (07:00 - 19:00) Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in level 4 NICU License: Virginia state license (pending licenses accepted with conditions) Certifications: RRT, BLS, NRP required; PALS preferred Must-Have: Level 4 NICU experience; cardiac PICU experience preferred; experience with complex congenital pediatric cases Description: Client offers will be subject to clinical review. November starts are available. Schedules may include 36 or 48 hours. Expectations include working every other weekend and holiday. Must work 2 out of 3 winter holidays. The unit uses a self-scheduling model that will be explained during the call. While the schedule cannot be guaranteed, efforts will be made to accommodate preferences. The Respiratory Therapist must be competent in caring for patients in the NICU, PICU, high-risk deliveries, and acute care pediatrics. The individual should be comfortable working in a multidisciplinary team. Strong communication and critical thinking skills are essential. The work environment includes various departments within the children's hospital. Special procedures involve working with both a Bunnell Jet Ventilator and HFOV 3100A. The candidate must have experience in aerosol setup, bag and mask ventilation, intubation assistance, and care for tracheostomy patients. Additional skills required include interpretation of arterial blood gases and knowledge of various respiratory therapies and equipment. Travelers may be required to float within their scope of practice as needed.
