Job Description & Requirements Specialty: PICU - Pediatric Intensive Care Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/14/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days, nights Employment Type: Travel Pediatric Float Pool RN Position Overview Specialty: Pediatric Float Pool Weekends: Required Holidays: Required Experience: Minimum 3 years in a Level I Trauma facility — required Must be comfortable floating broadly throughout the children’s hospital Primary Float Areas PICU: 34 beds CICU: 25 beds NICU: 112 beds Surgical Pediatrics Behavioral Health GI Neurology Respiratory Hem/Onc Pediatric Stepdown Cardiac Pediatrics Other appropriate acute-care pediatric units NICU Floating May float to NICU, but assignments are limited to lower-acuity feeder/grower patients rather than traditional high-acuity NICU assignments. Required Clinical Experience Strong pediatric acute-care background with: Trach patients High-flow oxygen Infusion management IV therapy and blood products Pediatric monitoring and assessment Ability to rapidly adapt between multiple pediatric specialties Travelers should be highly versatile and able to function as a first-line float resource across the children’s hospital. Core RN Responsibilities Manage an assigned patient load Perform ongoing assessments and monitor physiological changes Administer medications Initiate, regulate and monitor IV infusions Administer and monitor blood products Document patient response to treatment and interventions Assist physicians with examinations and minor procedures Communicate care plans with patients and families Coordinate discharge education and referrals Delegate appropriate tasks to support staff Hard Stop: Candidate must have 3 years of Level I Trauma experience and be comfortable floating across multiple pediatric acute-care specialties.
