MDP Track: Associate Equity Analyst (Partner Link)

The Program: Morningstar’s Development Program prepares recent college graduates for long‑term careers in finance and investment research. During the two‑year cohort, participants receive career development, networking, mentoring, and training opportunities, as well as exposure to different business areas. Role Overview Morningstar’s Equity Research team seeks a highly motivated Associate Equity Analyst to support coverage of stocks within a sector team. The Associate will contribute to topical and thematic research, and substantially assist with coverage of multiple firms in the sector. Responsibilities Acquire a deep understanding of the companies and industries covered by gathering and interpreting relevant research, news, and data. Build modeling expertise by helping teammates develop and maintain company‑ and industry‑level models. Develop high proficiency with Morningstar’s equity research methodologies and disciplines relevant to equity research, including financial statement analysis and corporate finance. Support the team’s efforts to publish timely, insightful research updates for a broad investor audience. Collaborate with teammates on “deep dive” research that is differentiated, substantiated, and clearly communicated. Sharpen awareness of behavioral biases and embody an “investors first” mindset at all times. Qualifications Between 0–2 years of professional work experience. Bachelor’s degree completed no later than May 2026 (all majors welcome). Highly motivated to succeed in a stimulating environment. Eager curiosity: a desire to dig deep and explore widely. Creativity: ability to experiment with new approaches to questions and puzzles. High personal standards for thoroughness and attention to detail. Strong reasoning and analytical skills. Clear, concise communication of complex ideas. Progress toward CFA designation and/or MBA preferred. Comfortable drawing conclusions amid incomplete information and tight deadlines. Collaborative mindset and ability to give and receive constructive feedback. Unrestricted right to work in the United States. Location & Start Date Chicago Start Date: July 6, 2026 Compensation & Benefits Target total cash compensation: 91,300 USD (inclusive of annual base salary and target incentive).
