Merck seeks a scientist to support preclinical in vivo studies at its South San Francisco research facility. The role involves planning and executing rodent pharmacokinetic and ADME studies, animal care, data management, and routine veterinary support under veterinarian guidance, including weekend and holiday rotations.
Responsibilities
- Plan, design, and execute rodent in vivo PK and ADME studies including dosing, observations, and sample collection
- Manage study timelines and maintain comprehensive records of animal treatments, protocols, and study data
- Perform research procedures and medical treatments for animals under veterinarian guidance
- Support inspection readiness, safety, and operational efficiency initiatives within the vivarium
- Learn and implement new procedures to support additional in vivo studies and vivarium operations
Requirements
- B.S. or M.S. in Biology or related in vivo research field
- Minimum 2 years experience in research in vivo work
- Demonstrated commitment to animal care and welfare standards
- Ability to document data thoroughly and follow procedures precisely
- Strong problem-solving and independent decision-making capabilities
- ALAT or AAALAS certification preferred
- Willingness to work weekend and holiday rotations
