Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM is seeking an experienced, innovative and forward-thinking Engineering Manager focused on Mechanical / Electrical / Plumbing / Fire Protection to help grow and lead our building engineering practice in Boston. If you’re passionate about sustainable design, cutting-edge HVAC systems, and want to help shape the future of high-performance buildings, we want to hear from you.Why Join Us?Leadership role with autonomy and support — Build and lead your own team, with support from the executive level and peers.Work that matters — Design systems for complex, high-impact infrastructure in a way that will drive goals for electrification, carbon reduction, and energy performance.Broad opportunities for career growth and visibility — AECOM defines clear pathways of professional growth and leadership advancement.Collaboration — Join over 200 MEP professionals across the East Coast, plus over 700 New England multidisciplinary teammates, in a culture that values curiosity, respect, knowledge sharing and interdisciplinary problem-solving.Innovation — Champion new ways of delivering engineering excellence, including digital design tools, AI-enabled workflows, advanced simulation, and emerging approaches to sustainable building systems.What You’ll Do:Lead and grow AECOM's building engineering practice in Boston, balancing technical excellence, team development, client service, and business performance.Develop and execute a strategic plan to expand local MEP capabilities and build an integrated, multidisciplinary engineering team.Drive major project pursuits — both stand-alone MEP/FP work and as part of larger multi-discipline teams.Act as technical leader and quality reviewer across a range of project sizes and complexities., creating an environment where talented engineers can do their best work.Serve as design manager on complex projects with significant engineering scope, working closely with project managers to deliver high quality documents.Lead interdisciplinary coordination/quality reviews and ensure engineering standards are met.Coach, mentor and develop engineers at all career stages, helping them achieve technical, professional, and leadership goals.Manage forecasting, resource planning, and staff performance, including goal-setting and annual reviews for mechanical department. Assist the electrical department manager to do the same.Represent AECOM to clients, participate in interviews, and help craft winning proposals.Provide technical vision and thought leadership for mechanical engineering across the Boston practice.Success in this role will be measured by team growth, employee engagement, technical quality, client satisfaction, and successful project delivery.This is an opportunity to shape the future of AECOM's building engineering practice in Boston. You'll play a key role in developing exceptional engineers, delivering transformative projects, and advancing sustainable solutions that improve communities and create lasting impact.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree plus 8 years of mechanical engineering experience on multi-disciplinary projects.or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or experience.PE license in Mechanical Engineering, with the ability to obtain licensure in additional U.S. states.Preferred Qualifications:10+ years of experience including at least two in a leadership role.Affinity for client service and business development.Proven ability to build positive working relationships and lead through influence and inclusivity.Experience with aviation, transportation and/or federal sector projects.Strong background in sustainable and high-performance building design.Familiarity with central utility plant systems.Additional InformationSponsorship for US employment authorization is not available now or in the future for this position.At AECOM, we are committed to maintaining a secure and trustworthy recruitment process and take any fraudulent hiring activity seriously.
