Administrative Director, Quality Development

The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is a leading institution focused on cancer care, research, education, and prevention. Within this environment, the Administrative Director, Quality Development plays a critical role in advancing quality and patient safety initiatives across the Division of Radiation Oncology, which includes specialized areas such as GI, Breast, GU, Thoracic, Experimental Radiation Oncology, and Radiation Physics.

The Administrative Director, Quality Development is responsible for building and overseeing the administrative infrastructure that supports the division's quality program. The Administrative Director, Quality Development partners closely with clinical and administrative leadership, including the Deputy Division Head of Quality and Safety, to drive high-reliability practices, improve clinical outcomes, and ensure alignment with institutional goals. The Administrative Director, Quality Development serves as a key liaison across departments, facilitating reporting, program development, and strategic initiatives.

The ideal candidate brings a bachelor's degree and extensive experience in healthcare quality program development, with demonstrated leadership in quality and patient safety initiatives. This individual is highly organized, excels in project management, and communicates effectively across multidisciplinary teams. A strong ability to work independently, build relationships, and influence without direct authority is essential, along with a strategic mindset and comfort navigating complex organizational environments.

Responsibilities
Programmatic and Quality Oversight
• Oversee administrative functions supporting the division's quality and safety program
• Coordinate investigation and review of patient safety reports, incidents, and close calls
• Facilitate and track root cause analyses and event debriefs
• Lead development and implementation of quality improvement and high-reliability initiatives
• Support drafting of policies, standards of practice, and process improvement strategies
• Design and deliver quality and patient safety education programs
• Develop and present QAPI reports and key performance metrics to divisional and institutional leadership
• Drive strategic planning efforts aligned with short- and long-term divisional goals

Cross-Functional Collaboration and Reporting
• Partner with Patient Safety and Quality Officers (PSQOs) across departments to compile and report data
• Represent the division in institutional forums, committees, and external engagements
• Support TRB-related reporting processes and safety event reviews
• Build strong relationships with multidisciplinary stakeholders across the organization
• Serve as administrative representative for quality and safety initiatives

Data, Systems, and Reporting Infrastructure
• Develop database structures, reporting tools, and user interfaces to support quality initiatives
• Utilize systems such as Enterprise Information Warehouse, Epic OneConnect (Caboodle), and Statit
• Oversee processes for internal and external incident reporting
• Improve data capture, analytics, and reporting methodologies
• Interpret and present data to support decision-making and continuous improvement

Program Development and Strategic Initiatives
• Establish and build administrative infrastructure for emerging quality programs
• Lead business planning, program development, and special initiatives
• Support value, access, and quality platform strategies within the division
• Promote a culture of safety and accountability through structured program development
• Work independently to advance programs with minimal oversight

Compliance, Accreditation, and Communication
• Support accreditation processes and adherence to ACR and APEx standards
• Coordinate with internal teams to ensure regulatory compliance
• Serve as point of contact for external organizations, committees, and networks
• Maintain transparent and consistent communication with faculty and administrative teams
• Support training and education aligned with institutional standards

EDUCATION
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree
  • Preferred: Master's Degree
WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Required: 6 years Healthcare setting, or a related field, including three years in quality improvement, process improvement, or safety, and two years of management, supervisory, or programmatic leadership experience directing complex programs, initiatives, or operational functions.
  • Successful completion of the LEADing Self Accelerate and/or LEADing Self Discover programs may substitute for one year of required supervisory or management experience. Completion of both programs can be substituted for a maximum of two years of supervisory or management experience.
  • Preferred: At least 7 years of experience in quality programmatic development and management in healthcare settings and demonstrated leadership role(s) in healthcare. Direct quality and safety experience and organization, project management, and administrative experience
OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Must pass pre-employment skills test as required and administered by Human Resources.
