2nd shift (8hrs) Quality Lab Technician $18/hr

Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Lab Technician to join our team in Fountain Inn, SC. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity with long-term potential for the right candidate. The role primarily focuses on cutting, mounting, and polishing samples for metallographic analysis. The technician will provide laboratory support to Production, Quality, and Engineering teams by preparing samples, conducting analysis, and generating reports in accordance with technical documentation and procedures. Key Responsibilities Prepare samples for laboratory analysis based on Production and Engineering requirements Perform metallographic analysis using a digital microscope, scanner, and image analyzer Cut, mount, grind, and polish samples for evaluation Conduct and evaluate mechanical testing (e.g., tensile strength testing) Generate internal metallurgical and quality reports Create parts certification certificates and communicate with customers as needed Maintain laboratory documentation, including storage mounts and material certificates Order lab consumables (grits, resins, polishing suspensions, etc.) Maintain calibration records and schedule service for measurement devices Support ISO 9001 activities and quality system requirements Perform routine cleaning, maintenance, and 5S housekeeping within the lab Assist with non-conforming material investigations and quality documentation Act as a technical resource to Production and Engineering during product qualifications Qualifications & Skills Previous experience in a manufacturing laboratory environment preferred Experience with metallography, sample preparation, or NDT training/certification is a plus Ability to read and interpret technical drawings Strong documentation and record-keeping skills Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (ISO 9001 preferred) Technical aptitude with the ability to operate microscopes and lab equipment Strong attention to detail and color/shade discrimination ability Ability to work independently and as part of a team Willingness to occasionally work nights or weekends with limited notice Strong verbal and written communication skills Working Conditions 90% climate-controlled laboratory environment 10% non-climate-controlled indoor production environment Ability to sit or stand for extended periods Safe handling of laboratory materials required Why Apply?
