Our firm is currently conducting a search for a Senior Cost Accountant with a large manufacturing client in Columbia, SC . This role will manage the cost accounting function, inventory valuation, manufacturing accounting, and financial reporting for the company. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with standard costing, inventory reconciliation, month-end close, and ERP systems, with a focus on improving operational efficiency and financial accuracy.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and manage cost accounting processes
• Analyze product costs, labor costs, overhead allocations, and inventory variances
• Perform inventory reconciliations and ensure accurate inventory valuation
• Support month-end and year-end close activities related to inventory and cost accounting
• Prepare journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reports
• Monitor standard costs and work with engineering BOMs (Bills of Materials) and routing structures
• Partner with operations, supply chain, and manufacturing teams to improve cost controls
• Analyze manufacturing variances, scrap, and production efficiencies
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies
• Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation
• Develop and improve ERP reporting, saved searches, and dashboards within ERP system
• Support ERP implementations, process improvements, and system enhancements

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• 3–7+ years of cost accounting experience
• Strong understanding of: Standard costing, Inventory accounting, Manufacturing accounting, Variance analysis, and GAAP principles
• Advanced Excel skills and basic Access skills.
• Experience with ERP systems and financial reporting tools: NetSuite ERP preferred
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Excellent communication and organizational skills
• Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain industries
