Empower students to succeed by supporting their unique learning journeys as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired. This rewarding, contract opportunity spans K-12 settings and is available on either a full-time or part-time basis, allowing you to make a meaningful impact while maintaining schedule flexibility. You’ll work in a collaborative, onsite environment within a supportive district from now through May 2027.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Current South Carolina certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (VI)
- Experience working with K-12 students, adapting curriculum and learning materials for visually impaired learners
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate with students, families, and faculty
- Strong organizational skills and adaptability to address diverse learning needs
- Passion for fostering an inclusive, empowering classroom environment
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students who are blind or visually impaired across all grade levels
- Assess students’ individual needs and develop tailored learning plans in partnership with other educators and specialists
- Modify classroom materials and employ assistive technology to facilitate student access to the curriculum
- Advocate for students’ needs and ensure compliance with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and state mandates
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource for teachers, staff, and families regarding strategies and accommodations
- Maintain accurate student records and progress notes
