SUMMARY

The Employee Communications Manager is responsible for developing, managing, and continuously improving Butler/Till’s internal employee communications strategy. This role ensures employee-owners receive timely, consistent, engaging, and relevant information across the agency’s communication channels. This role serves as a key connector across Talent, Leadership, Marketing & Growth and cross-functional teams to support clear messaging, employee engagement, culture-building, and alignment around agency priorities. The Employee Communications Manager owns day-to-day employee communication channels, content planning, internal updates, employee-facing digital platforms, and agencywide communication moments that keep employee-owners informed, connected, and engaged.

KEY OUTCOMES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Outcome: Own and Manage a Consistent Employee Communications Strategy Key Responsibilities: Develop, manage, and continuously improve the employee communications strategy, including communication channels, cadence, content planning, and messaging standards. Own and maintain the employee communications calendar to ensure agencywide updates are timely, coordinated, and aligned with business priorities. Create, edit, and distribute clear, engaging, and employee-centered communications across internal channels. Manage weekly agency updates or similar internal communication touchpoints to ensure regular, consistent information sharing. Partner with leaders and stakeholders to translate complex updates into clear, accessible, and action-oriented employee communications. Maintain communication standards that support consistency, transparency, and alignment across teams and departments. Key Outcome: Manage Employee Communication Channels and Digital Content Key Responsibilities: Manage the internal Butler/Till app, ensuring content is accurate, timely, relevant, and regularly refreshed. Evaluate internal communication channels for effectiveness and recommend improvements to strengthen engagement and information flow. Maintain internal content systems, templates, and communication resources to support consistent messaging. Coordinate updates across platforms to ensure employee-owners can easily access current and accurate information. Support the evolution or revamp of existing internal communication tools, including legacy platforms or recurring update formats. Key Outcome: Plan and Coordinate Agencywide Meetings, Forums, and Employee Engagement Moments Key Responsibilities: Orchestrate all-agency meetings and employee forums, including quarterly employee-owner forums, town halls, and other agencywide communication events. Partner with leaders to develop agendas, messaging, speaker preparation materials, and follow-up communications for internal communication events. Manage logistics and content coordination for internal meetings in partnership with appropriate stakeholders. Own the agency events calendar, ensuring employee-facing events, forums, and key communication moments are visible, coordinated, and up to date. Participate as a communications partner on the yearly shareholder summit planning committee, supporting messaging, content, and employee-facing materials as needed. Key Outcome: Support Culture, Employee Voice, and Employee-Owner Engagement Key Responsibilities: Serve as the management liaison to the Employee Communications Committee (ECC). Manage intake, coordination, and response processes for anonymous employee questions, partnering with leadership and subject matter experts to ensure responses are timely, accurate, and appropriately transparent. Identify recurring employee questions, themes, or communication gaps and share insights with appropriate stakeholders. Develop employee-centered content that reinforces culture, belonging, employee ownership, agency values, and organizational priorities. Partner with Marketing and Talent to create employee-focused content for internal channels, social media, and employer brand storytelling. Key Outcome: Strengthen Employer Brand and External Reputation Through Employee-Centered Content Key Responsibilities: Support the agency’s presence on employer reputation platforms, including Glassdoor, Google, and LinkedIn in partnership with Talent, Marketing, and leadership. Help monitor themes, coordinate responses, and ensure employer brand content reflects Butler/Till’s values, culture, and employee-owner experience. Manage or coordinate agency award submissions, partnering with Marketing, Talent, and other stakeholders to gather content, draft submissions, and meet deadlines. Support employee content for social media, including employee spotlights, culture stories, recognition moments, and other content that reflects the employee experience. Partner with Talent and Marketing to ensure candidate-facing website content is relevant, accurate, appealing, and aligned with the employee value proposition. Key Outcome: Maintain Employee-Facing Documents and Cross-Functional Communication Support Key Responsibilities: Support employee handbook updates, formatting, and content coordination in partnership with Talent, Legal, and other subject matter experts. Ensure employee-facing materials are clear, current, accessible, and aligned with Butler/Till’s tone and standards. Partner closely with Marketing & Growth to support communications related to policy updates, organizational announcements, employee programs, and agency initiatives and ensure continuity amongst various platforms. Maintain strong working relationships across departments to proactively identify communication needs, risks, and opportunities. Help ensure communications drive clarity, alignment, and next steps, rather than simply distributing information. Other Responsibilities: Additional accountabilities and tasks may be assigned by leader/management, to contribute to overall team and agency success.

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Human Resources, or a related field. 6+ years of experience in employee communications, internal communications, corporate communications, employer brand, marketing communications, or a related role. Strong writing, editing, and message development skills with the ability to create clear, engaging, and audience-specific communications. Experience managing communication channels, editorial calendars, internal updates, or employee-facing content platforms. Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and build strong relationships with leaders, stakeholders, and subject matter experts. Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and communication requests. Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information with professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment. Comfort supporting leadership communications, employee engagement initiatives, and agencywide meetings or forums. Experience in an agency, professional services, employee-owned, B Corp, or purpose-driven organization. Familiarity with employer brand, Glassdoor, employee advocacy, or reputation management platforms. Experience supporting employee handbook content, policy communications, or employee-facing HR materials. Experience creating employee stories, social media content, website copy, award submissions, or culture-focused communications. Familiarity with ESOP or employee ownership communication is a plus.

COMPENSATION

Butler/Till is committed to providing pay transparency of our compensation philosophy and ensuring equitable pay practices for our employee owners. The compensation range for this position is $70,000 and $85,000 represents the annual salary range in Rochester, NY. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. This is just one component of Butler/Till’s total compensation package for employee owners. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including ESOP (employee stock ownership plan) an annual bonus a full benefits package paid time off benefits, including 100% paid parental leave. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. Requirements
