Business Operations Manager

This position is responsible for managing and improving all internal business operations, overseeing employee activity and ensuring the School of Computing is on track to meet its financial goals. Develop annual scope of work and manage progress throughout the year. This position will independently administer processes, projects, and resources and act as a liaison with other departments, colleges, and administrative offices across campus.

May provide guidance and assistance to entry level professionals and/or support employees.

Oversee school timelines to ensure compliance with reporting, accreditation duties, and university deadlines. Assist with and coordinate accreditation-related duties and serve as support for the director in delegating the appropriate related tasks. Develop, modifies, and implements policies, rules and procedures. Establishes and maintain internal policies and procedures for administrative activities. Assist the director with timely and accurate operational updates to the school and college. Organizes and schedules meetings and special events, including coordinating dates and times, venues, attendees, and agenda. Provide administrative support as needed for School of Computing functions, including meeting preparation, minutes, and action item follow-up.

Lead the faculty and staff recruitment and onboarding process in collaboration with the Dean's Office and Human Resources. Oversees personnel action workflows to ensure accurate and timely submissions of employee costing changes, data changes, separations and other relevant employee actions. Oversees the new hire process for part-time and student employees for departmental, research, and Graduate Assistant roles. Assist Director with the evaluation process to ensure annual deadlines are adhered to. Arrange and book travel accommodations for staff and students as well as submit post-travel reimbursements in compliance with university policies and procedures. Ensures the department is adhering to all federal, state, and university policies related to labor and employment laws.

Manage financial operations for the School of Computing, including overseeing financial reporting, processing purchases, and forecasting for appropriate amounts. Oversee travel, expense reimbursement, and purchasing processes for the school, including tracking and reviewing school expenditures. Review and approve budget requests to support strategic and fiscal priorities. Serve as the primary liaison between the School of Computing, COEN Business Office, Purchasing, and Finance and Administration to implement and improve processes for school-wide finance tasks.

Collaborate with the director, faculty, and staff to strengthen industry relations. Collaborate with the director, Dean's Office, and other COEN faculty and staff to develop and implement strategic initiatives. Suggest and implement process improvement opportunities to enhance student support and engagement. Lead or assist with school and college initiatives as assigned. Responsible for managing School of Computing support staff as assigned. Evaluate and distribute workload of direct reports to ensure school support functions are timely and collaborative. Complete annual evaluations for assigned employees and provide timely feedback to enhance the employee experience. Supervises the development and implementation of business forms, documents, and web forms. Assist the Director for the School of Computing with various projects and initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned.

Ability to take ownership and responsibility, have initiative, and be reliable. Ability to gather and interpret data to provide meaningful and strategic recommendations.

Bachelor's and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.

Experience in academic or organizational administration and operations. Demonstrated success in financial management, budgeting, and process improvement. Experience supervising staff and fostering collaborative, inclusive work environments. Proficiency with enterprise systems for budgeting, HR, and data reporting. Experience providing excellent customer service to internal and external partners.

This position is generally in a normal indoor office setting with minimal noise levels and may involve bending, moving, lifting, and carrying materials that weigh up to 15 pounds.

Salary range starts at $60,673.60 annually and is commensurate with experience.
