Job Summary The General Service Technician performs non-technical automotive service repairs such as oil changes, tire and wheel services, and maintains shop cleanliness. Responsibilities also include customer transportation, parts procurement, and vehicle safety inspections. Performs oil changes and other basic services at the direction of the Shop Manager or Store Manager. Observes vehicle condition during basic services, documenting with the company’s Multi‑point Inspection or Repair Order. Maintains cleanliness of the shop, service area, tire racks, showroom and building exterior. Safely transports customers to and from their residence or business using the company vehicle. Picks up parts, supplies and tires from vendors or the corporate office with the company vehicle. Operates the company vehicle safely, obeying all traffic laws. Conducts State Safety and Emission Inspections following company and state guidelines. Follows all safety procedures and reports concerns to the Shop Manager or Store Manager. Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Valid, clean driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire. Current or expired State Inspector License, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire. Understanding of under‑hood, mechanical, and under‑carriage assemblies. Available to work at least five days per week, including weekends. Working Conditions and Physical Demands The role involves exposure to moderate to loud noises, dust, exhaust fumes, lubricants, petroleum products, vapors, caustic materials, and other hazardous and non‑hazardous materials. Temperature may vary from extreme heat to extreme cold depending on weather. Physical requirements include: Standing up to eight hours per day and walking throughout the shop. Regular bending, stooping, kneeling, and crouching with full range of motion in arms and hands. Lifting or moving up to 10 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds frequently. Good hearing and speaking ability. Vision sufficient to detect color, depth, and re‑focus.
