Job Summary: The Temporary Building Maintenance Tech that will play a vital role in ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep of the building. The Property Maintenance and Repair Technician supports the daily operations by performing general maintenance, basic repairs, and routine building upkeep. This role works under the supervision of experienced maintenance personnel to ensure that units, common areas, and building systems remain safe, functional, and compliant with housing quality standards. In addition to maintenance tasks, the Technician assists with property operations, including inventory control, equipment upkeep, and documentation of completed work. This position plays an important role in creating a safe, welcoming, and trauma-informed living environment for residents by responding to maintenance requests with professionalism, respect, and care. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and committed to supporting stable housing for individuals and families

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform general maintenance, repairs, and minor construction work for Permanent Supportive Housing properties. This may include, but is not limited to:
• • Electrical
  • Mechanical
  • Plumbing
  • Carpentry
  • Masonry
  • Landscaping
  • Painting
• General custodial tasks such as trash removal and cleaning units
• Assist the maintenance team in developing and implementing a property-specific preventive maintenance program.
• Perform preventive maintenance on building equipment and systems, such as routine inspections, air filter cleaning/replacement, lubrication, system monitoring, component repair/replacement, and general upkeep.
• Ensure compliance with public health, safety, and fire regulations; maintain all properties in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
• Abide by and implement property security measures to protect individuals and facilities.
• Move, place, and install furniture, appliances, and other items as needed within units and common areas.
• Perform transportation, delivery, pickup, loading/unloading, and installation of household items and appliances.
• Safely operate agency vehicles, including trucks and passenger vans, and perform routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs to keep vehicles, tools, and equipment in good working order.
• Collaborate professionally with residents, coworkers, and contractors, maintaining a trauma-informed and respectful approach in all interactions.
• Attend mandatory agency trainings, including Trauma-Informed Care, Housing Focused services, De-escalation, Suicide Prevention, CPR, and more.
• Participate in emergency drills and environmental safety activities, as required.
• Follow all agency protocols for security, safety, and sanitation to maintain a clean and secure environment for residents, guests, and staff.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance as an essential function of this role.

Qualifications:

• Must be at least 21 years old and have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record required to operate agency vehicles.
• Experience working with diverse and/or vulnerable populations is preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• Experience in general maintenance, building repair, construction, or a related field is preferred.
• Minimum two years of experience in one or more of the following areas is preferred:
• • HVAC
  • Carpentry and/or construction
  • Mechanical and plumbing
  • Electrical
• Ability to lift and move heavy items up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to sit, stand, and move for at least an hour at a time or more.
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, twist, push, and pull to perform job functions.
• Ability to use stairs or steps.
• Ability to safely climb stairs, ladders, and step stools.
• Ability to operate equipment and machinery, as needed.
• Wear OSHA-required protective gear for safety.
• Automotive and light equipment repair
• Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, ladders, and maintenance equipment, following all safety standards.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot a variety of maintenance issues.
• Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, and complete work with minimal supervision.
• Commitment to maintaining a clean, safe, and trauma-informed environment for everyone.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with diverse populations.
• Provide thoughtful and attentive customer service by communicating clearly and handling difficult situations with professionalism, patience, and empathy.
• Use basic computer programs (email, spreadsheets, and more) and have basic computer skills.
• Ability to accept supervision, direction, and feedback with openness.
• Communicate clearly and effectively with clients, coworkers, and supervisors using verbal and written communication.
