Network Associate Director of 6-12 Literacy

The Organization Prospect Schools is a high‑performing, intentionally diverse K‑12 college preparatory charter network serving nearly 3,000 students across seven schools in Brooklyn. The Role Prospect Schools is seeking an organized, flexible, and mission‑driven leader to support our growing network of schools. The Network Associate Director of 6‑12 Literacy serves as an instructional and curricular leader, creating and carrying out a vision for rigorous secondary literacy that aligns with Prospect 2030’s goal of ensuring 100% of students are college‑ready and graduate with an IB Diploma. The Associate Director will manage the implementation of high‑quality instructional materials and literacy assessments across middle and high school, align ELA programs with IB requirements, and support outcome improvement through assessment, intervention, and professional development. Planning and Instruction Work with the Teaching and Learning Team and school stakeholders to develop and share a vision for instructional excellence in secondary literacy. Establish goals and prioritize initiatives that enhance student achievement in literacy across grades 6‑12. Lead a network‑wide review of curriculum, standards, and student performance data to ensure alignment, rigor, and timely revision. Develop and update interim, mock, and gateway assessments in collaboration with stakeholders. Maintain up‑to‑date scope and sequences, instructional guidance, and tools for engaging literacy instruction across 6‑12. Ensure IB MYP and DP Language and Literature alignment for ELA content in grades 6‑10, including unit design, text selection, and assessment criteria. Manage progress‑monitoring cycles, intervention placement, and benchmark response for middle school campuses. Design and oversee sustainable Reading Enrichment and Intervention systems across all four middle schools. Coach School‑Based Leaders to Improve Their Literacy Programs Articulate a vision for strong secondary literacy instruction and implementation of high‑quality instructional materials. Diagnose strengths and growth areas of programs and collaborate with academic leaders and principals to create action plans. Provide feedback on professional development and/or classroom instruction. Develop, review, and revise assessments and curricular materials. Analyze assessment results and help leaders use data to set goals and adjust instruction. Facilitating Professional Development and Modeling Great Teaching Design and facilitate professional development grounded in the Science of Reading and aligned to secondary literacy priorities. Develop instructional leaders and teachers through coaching and differentiated support. Research and distill lessons learned and recommendations for school‑based content teams. Curate the organization of online content resources to ensure access to high‑quality materials. Facilitate knowledge sharing across the network of schools. Engage in learning opportunities that promote stronger Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practices. Candidate Requirements Master’s degree or higher in a related field; education preferred. Deep understanding of secondary literacy development, including adolescent reading science and structured literacy approaches. Familiarity with IB Middle Years and Diploma Programme ELA frameworks strongly preferred. Ability to build trust with school‑based leaders and adapt coaching to individual contexts. Data‑driven approach to identify and close gaps for all student groups, with a commitment to equitable outcomes. Classroom teaching or other instructional experience at the secondary level. At least 3 years of teaching and/or leadership experience in an urban school. Current and valid New York State Teaching License preferred. Proven track record of academic success. Excellent coordination, collaboration, and communication skills. Skilled multi‑tasker with strong project‑planning abilities. Strategic and critical thinker with exceptional written, oral, and visual communication skills. Salary The salary range for this role starts at $90,000 and increases based on years of experience. Salaries are set through a lens of equity and are based on the individual’s skills, education, and experience relevant to the role.
