The Senior HR Generalist at QES serves as a key partner supporting both operational and strategic HR functions within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is heavily focused on employee relations, compliance, investigations, and workforce support while maintaining strong alignment with business operations.
This position requires a hands-on, floor-present HR leader who can navigate complex employee matters, ensure policy consistency, and support leadership in maintaining a productive, compliant, and respectful workplace.
The Senior HR Generalist will serve as a trusted resource for employees and leadership while reinforcing HR governance, organizational standards, and consistent HR practices across the company.

Key Responsibilities
Serve as a primary HR contact for employee relations concerns across production, field, and corporate teams.
Conduct thorough, timely, and objective investigations into complaints, misconduct, and policy violations.
Partner with leadership on corrective actions, final warnings, terminations, and conflict resolution.
Coach supervisors and managers on documentation, performance management, and handling difficult conversations.
Support a culture of accountability while mitigating legal and organizational risk.
Ensure compliance with FLSA, FMLA, ADA, EEOC requirements, and applicable state employment laws.
Administer and support leave of absence programs, including FMLA, medical leave, and ADA accommodations.
Coordinate return-to-work processes and fitness-for-duty matters.
Maintain audit-ready documentation for investigations, disciplinary actions, and employment decisions, including reductions in force (RIFs).
Partner with leadership on risk mitigation strategies during sensitive employee actions.
Support workforce planning efforts involving hiring slowdowns, hiring freezes, reductions in force, and organizational restructuring.
Assist leadership in evaluating staffing needs, overtime and fatigue considerations, and workforce distribution across departments.
Interpret and enforce company policies consistently across all departments.
Assist with development and updates to the employee handbook and HR policies.
Ensure alignment between operational practices and HR governance standards.
Maintain accurate employee records in the Paychex HRIS.
Partner with Payroll on terminations, final pay coordination, and employee status changes.
Support onboarding and offboarding processes, ensuring compliance and consistency.
Assist with HR reporting and metrics tracking.
Provide guidance to employees regarding medical, dental, and vision benefits, COBRA continuation, and 401(k) inquiries and transitions.
Serve as a resource for employees navigating leaves, workplace transitions, and workplace concerns.
Maintain regular presence on the production floor and engage directly with frontline employees.
Respond to urgent employee relations matters in real time.
Collaborate closely with Operations, Safety, and leadership teams.
Support organizational compliance, employee trust and engagement, leadership alignment, and operational continuity during workforce changes.
Proactively identify and mitigate legal and organizational risk.
Support leadership while reinforcing HR governance and appropriate HR boundaries.
Contribute to a stable, compliant, and performance-driven workplace culture.

Knowledge and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
5–7+ years of progressive HR experience.
Strong experience in employee relations and workplace investigations.
Experience in manufacturing or industrial environments preferred.
Strong working knowledge of employment law and HR compliance requirements.
Experience managing complex and sensitive employee situations using sound judgment and discretion.
Demonstrated ability to influence and partner with leadership at all levels.
Strong written documentation skills, particularly for investigations, disciplinary actions, and employment decisions.
High level of discretion and confidentiality.
Ability to balance employee advocacy with business needs.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, with the ability to effectively communicate with a diverse workforce across all levels of the organization.
PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP certification preferred.
