JOB DESCRIPTION:

Winterthur’s Sales Associates provide exception customer service to our guests, ensuring their satisfaction, loyalty and repeat business. They contributes to the financial success of the store by proactively selling, with an excellent understanding of the scope and details of our merchandise. Compensation: $15.60 per hour Benefits: 403b with employer match for eligible employees; discounts in the museum store and cafe; free general admission for you and your immediate family Work Schedule: Variable, including evenings, weekends, and some holidays Responsibilities: Greet guests as they enter the Museum Store and ensure all guests feel welcome Proactively engage guests in a sales relationship, seeking opportunities to upsell merchandise and services, answering guests questions regarding merchandise and Winterthur as a whole, and skillfully guiding the customer to a sales decision, thereby assisting in meeting store sales goals Process cash and charge transactions utilizing the POS system and cash register; bag or package purchases; provide change and receipts Accurately and responsibly handle all sales transactions, and reconcile all transactions and sales at the end of the shift Professionally and courteously resolve customer complaints, de-escalating the situation and seeking solutions that meet the guest’s needs while abiding by Museum Store policies Cooperate with team members in a professional manner to ensure a positive work environment in which all employees support one another and the goals of the store Completes necessary administrative and supplemental assigned tasks (i.e. dusting, polishing silver, restocking sales floor, moving merchandise) as assigned. Assist with arranging for mailing or delivery of purchases, marking price tags, taking inventory, and preparing displays Attend training sessions and other company meetings as requested by the Supervisor. Minimum Experience: 1-2 years in retail or customer service positions Preferred Experience: 3-5 years in the retail field or customer service positions in a museum setting Knowledge/Skills: Exceptional customer services and interpersonal skills, including active listening, empathy, and the ability to remain calm and de-escalate disputes Good working knowledge of POS systems and the ability to accurately handle cash and sales transaction Exceptional sales skills and ability to work toward sales goals while maintaining a welcoming environment for guests Ability to work well with a team, as well as independently and with minimal direction during non-peak sales hours when staffing may be minimal Ability to multi-task and assist multiple customers at a time Awareness of security risks and thefts and how to handle or prevent such situations Essential Functions: Ability to safely handle small, delicate objects Ability to stand for 8 hours at time Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs Ability to maneuver in tight spaces, such as storage rooms Thank you for considering Winterthur Museum job opportunities. #J-18808-Ljbffr Winterthur Museum
