Interim Fund Controller or Assistant Controller

Interim Fund Controller or Assistant Controller Our client, a real estate investment management firm, is seeking an Interim Fund Accounting Controller or Assistant Controller to provide senior-level support while the organization completes a permanent search. This role is hybrid, with in-office requirements 3 days/week in San Francisco, CA. Remote candidates will be considered; however, PST working hours are required for the role. This role has an initial duration of approximately two months, with a strong likelihood of extension. Responsibilities Perform detailed reviews of fund accounting workbooks and supporting schedules prepared by the accounting team Review financial statement workbooks for accuracy, completeness, and consistency Prepare and review full GAAP financial statements, including primary statements and footnote disclosures Ensure fund accounting and financial reporting deliverables comply with U.S. GAAP and established reporting standards Provide technical guidance and review support to senior fund accounting team members Identify reporting issues, investigate discrepancies, and recommend appropriate resolutions Help maintain reporting timelines and ensure high-quality completion of key deliverables Support additional fund accounting and financial reporting projects as needed Requirements Senior-level fund accounting experience in a Controller, Assistant Controller, or comparable review capacity Strong experience preparing and reviewing complete GAAP financial statements, including footnote disclosures Background in private equity, real estate investment management, fund administration, or a related environment Demonstrated ability to review complex accounting workbooks and provide effective technical guidance Ability to operate independently, manage deadlines, and contribute immediately with minimal ramp-up Compensation Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco by Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors, including but not limited to: The individual’s skill sets, experience, and training; Licensure and certifications; Office location and other geographic considerations; Other business and organizational needs.
